To produce a design scheme that will fulfil the needs of a client, both from an operational viewpoint and in a way that creates a pleasant environment, requires the designer to be able to understand and interpret the clients requirements.  The design process is structured to ensure client involvement throughout.

• A brief is established and a sketch scheme prepared together with a budget costing which acts as a basis for further discussion.
• Once the scheme is approved in principal, the project goes to full design stage with input from other professionals as required.
• Detailed drawing information is prepared together with written scheduling of proposed work.
• Written contractual obligations on contractors are prepared which act to protect the client against extra costs.
• In tandem with the design process, EDS seek approvals from Building Control and where necessary planning approval.
• If required will seek tenders for the project,  generally by the issue of a digital tender incorporating drawing files and documents.
• Only pre-qualified contractors will be suggested to the client.
• As a further protection, a comprehensive evaluation of all returned tenders is undertaken to ensure items have been costed correctly.
• Once awarded, EDS will act as the clients agent to monitor the project ensuring it is carried out in a manner consistent with the design.
